Who is this system best for?
This system is for anyone with unreliable or non-existent grid power. This includes remote homes, farms, telecom towers, or anyone who wants to be 100% disconnected from the utility grid.
What happens on cloudy or rainy days?
We design your system with "Days of Autonomy." This means we build your battery bank large enough to store sufficient power to carry you through 1, 2, or even 3 days of bad weather.
Is this system cheaper than getting a grid connection?
If the electricity grid is far from your property, getting a new line installed can cost many lakhs. In this case, an Off-Grid solar system is often a much cheaper and faster one-time investment.
How long do the batteries last?
This depends on the type. A standard solar battery may last 3-5 years, while newer Lithium batteries can last 10-15 years. We will design the system with the battery technology that fits your budget and needs.
Can I add a generator (DG set) to this?
Yes. For critical applications, we can integrate a diesel generator as a final backup. The system will be smart enough to only turn on the DG set if the batteries are critically low after many cloudy days.
What maintenance is required for an Off-Grid system?
An Off-Grid system requires more maintenance than an On-Grid one, primarily for the batteries. You will need to keep the panels clean, and if you use traditional lead-acid batteries, you must check the water levels and terminals regularly. Opting for newer Lithium-ion batteries significantly reduces this maintenance.
Why is an Off-Grid system more expensive than an On-Grid system?
The higher cost is due to the battery bank. High-capacity, deep-cycle batteries are required to store all your power for nights and cloudy days, and these are a significant part of the investment. The system also needs a more advanced, powerful inverter.
Can I add more panels or batteries to my system later?
Yes, but it must be planned for. When we design your system, we will ask about your future plans. We can install a larger inverter (charge controller) from day one, which makes it very easy to add more solar panels or extra batteries later as your energy needs grow.
